Parental Control App - Kidslox App Reviews

Works great, my son is really good at sneaking his iPad so we put this on it and he hates it. He hates it because when you lock it it hides all the apps so he cant do anything on it, it also has a schedule that you can set up for bed time and anything else really.

July 5th, 2016 ***post several months of using update- I still love this app, the creators of it work hard on customer service and communication- responding to questions both quickly and personally! A few drawbacks with the iPhone-- you can not YET pick and choose specific apps you would like to leave OPEN for your children, however they are working on it- and already several apps have been made available to keep ON/open during lockdown (such as FaceTime, etc...) ****The one app I REALLY AM HOPING AND WAITING FOR- To be kept OPEN during lockdown is -- AUDIBLE!!! (??) **** I believe more improvements will continue to come (otherwise Id have moved on)--- and its easy interface, low price etc- I love this app-- Even still

Overall, for the price this has been a great purchase. Gives my wife and I more control over my sons phone when needed. Has a few glitches and gotchas now and then, but most can be resolved via reboot. Happy with this and excited to see continued features being added.

This app is user friendly, makes it easy to control your childrens screen time from anywhere!! Ive only had it one week and so far I am loving it!! The kids were not too excited about it :) but the parents are!!!

Great app that I use to control my kids iPad usage. I use it every day to restrict usage to 60 minutes a day and have recommended to many parents. Love that I can manage multiple devices and instantly turn it on or off. And I can control it from my iPhone or the computer. The new toggle feature makes it easier to understand. The only issue I have is that I frequently have refresh issues. When I toggle to another mode, I have to go back to the device list and refresh until the mode is updated. Or it could take minutes before it updates on its own. It would be nice to just have a refresh button on the screen. Other enhancements: 1) Being able to set a a time limit per day. For example, I want my kids to use their device 60 mins a day. They may choose to use 20 minutes in the morning, 20 minutes at noon, and 20 minutes in the afternoon. Rather than me turning it on and off three times, it would be nice to let my kids decide when they want to use it and how many minutes they have left. 2) Be able to leave certain apps (that you can specify) available in Lockdown mode.

Great app..... When it works , always have problems getting it to switch from one mode to another without trying multiple times!

This app is ok. It def could use some improvements. When I set up a schedule for my child it never comes out of lockdown mode. I have to, manually, put it back into child mode. It is not suppose to do that. I, also, have to completely shut off the web because it does not allow you to set up parental controls. If you leave it on they can search for anything. I was hoping that since you have to pay for this app (on every phone you put it on) that it would be better. I have recommended it to other people, in the past. However, I probably wont with the problems I am having with schedule. Hope this helps people before they buy it.

The app works fine, but as other reviewers have stated, it sometimes gets hung up due to inability to connect to Kidslox servers. Kind of a pain at times, but not a deal breaker. What I would like to see in a future version is a total time limit option. Where the device gets locked after a total usage of a specified amount of time. Currently, you can set a limit on immediate time usage i.e. Lockdown after 1.5 hrs of continuous use. It would be nice for the kid to go in and out of the device as desired until his/her total daily time limit is used up, at which point the device is locked. Just my 2 cents.

I just downloaded this to use on my sons iPad mini. I love that I can schedule times hes allowed to be on it and make restrictions when needed. I love that it can work across different platforms. I love the ease of use. What I dont love is that theres no way to completely lock his iPad. He can still use the camera, FaceTime, and messaging. Its only possible to completely lock if he doesnt know the passcode for the iPad. However, he needs to know the passcode for times when he locks the iPad himself to save battery or when it locks itself after several minutes of inactivity. There should be a way to override the iPads passcode and it can only be unlocked via the parent app or the same passcode used to open the app. I realize this may be easier said than done, but its only a suggestion to make it more useful to parents. My son can still amuse himself for hours with the camera, FaceTime, and messaging!

First of in 14, my parents installed it on my phone to keep me off. It definitely works although your children will hate you for installing it. 5 stars cause it works but screw you developers.

Great app most of the time but has occasional glitches that can be irritating.

This app works most of the time, freezes once a while but over all i would say a good app for parents to control their kids screen time.

I have 3 kids all with devices. This works great to schedule usage time and also limit inappropriate content. I recommend it to all of my fellow parents. Great app!

Exactly what I needed to control phone usage.

Too limited functionality. Offers too few options to limit the use of the phone. If I could I would return the app for refund immediately.

I meant to claim for a refund, but got lost in the description. I wanted something that times and locks or at least deactivates the certain apps. Absolutely useless :-(. Maybe theyll update or get better. Hopefully.

Oh, it works to lock a childs device remotely just fine, but only using the devices lock features. Unfortunately, the device cannot unlock unless you are physically present to type in the passcode. Makes no sense.

Expensive, wish I could get my $7 back. Screws up all icons and the help says "if youre one of THOSE people that likes organized icons, tough because everything is scrambled". No, I love having 7 screens of icons in normal mode instead of icon in folders on one screen. How do you return an app?

By the time Ive installed it on my kids devices, Ive noticed that my entire iPhone was out of whack!!! Still it didnt let me set up profile for my second child. After trying to work on it for 2 hours, Ive deleted! No good at all! UPDATE: Ive been contacted by Kidslox management and was offered help to look into my problems. After few back and forth emails theyve figured out the issue. Basically in Restrictions under Websites I had to allow all content, to be able to run and add the kids profiles. It allowed me to run the entire app correctly and after I switched my restrictions to what I had :) I was really glad Kidslox team contacted me and made the app work! Thank You! App works exactly how it should, kids are unhappy & Im ecstatic!
